The General Commission for Audiovisual Media completed the classification and approval of 254 media content items during the third quarter of 2018. This included 51 films, 116 classified video games, and 87 approved games.
In a press release, the Commission stated that the purpose of content classification is to help identify and determine the nature of the content provided, as well as to clarify its suitability for different age groups in alignment with societal values and the Kingdom's media policy.
The Commission emphasized the importance of adhering to age classifications, particularly for films and video games, as it helps adults choose appropriate content for those under 18.
Furthermore, the Commission highlighted that the message conveyed by local content creators should be genuine and reflect the community's reality, urging them to produce content that meets audience expectations.
The Commission also mentioned that content creators have various avenues for support, whether from the General Commission for Audiovisual Media or other government entities dedicated to facilitating their tasks.
It is worth noting that the General Commission for Audiovisual Media has classified and approved 548 media content items from the beginning of 2018 until the end of the third quarter of the current year.
