By confronting challenges and seizing developmental opportunities in the Kingdom, the General Authority for Media Regulation plays its role in achieving sustainable development goals as part of the Saudi government, manifested through various services, initiatives, and regulations that directly contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
The Authority has implemented sustainable development goals in their comprehensive sense, focusing on well-thought-out action plans to make the most of all available resources. Among the Authority's objectives is to create a productive reality and work towards a bright future by establishing policies and procedures based on merit, transparency, women's empowerment, and gender equality.
By providing equal opportunities in the media industry and access to media content, communities can benefit from diverse opinions and experiences in the production and direction of media content.
The Authority aims to increase women's representation in the sector in senior positions and roles. Currently, there are 40 female employees, 5 of whom hold senior positions. Women represent about 15% of the total employees in the Authority. The Authority aims to increase the proportion of female leaders to 30% by 2030.
The Authority allows women to apply for media licenses to work in the media field, as well as for the Trusted License and to obtain a professional card. The number of women holding media licenses is 2,011, those with the Trusted License are 2,417, and those with a professional journalist card are 79.
The Authority has strived to achieve the goal of "ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all" by licensing educational and awareness programs that highlight sustainable development goals. The Authority collaborated with Google to create a training course on the importance of safe internet usage basics. This initiative is part of educational and awareness programs aimed at educating students on how to protect themselves from inappropriate content.
The General Authority for Media Regulation announced the fourth edition of the Saudi-Japanese program for training Saudi game developers, in collaboration with the Japan Cooperation Center in the Middle East. This program aims to provide training on game development to enhance skills in game planning, design, and development, as well as to offer professional guidance to improve the capabilities of electronic game developers in this field.
The Authority has sought to achieve the goal of "enhancing means of implementation and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development" through partnerships. The Sustainable Development Agenda requires partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society. These comprehensive partnerships are built on shared principles, values, vision, and common goals.
The authority collaborated with the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East to enhance the capabilities of game developers. Additionally, it partnered with training programs designed by the authority in collaboration with Snapchat to improve skills in creating electronic platform content, with each partnership contributing 40%.
The general objective of this agreement is to enhance mutual cooperation. The authority seeks to participate by disseminating methods of interaction and communication with persons with disabilities, using their official terminology in the media. Additionally, it aims to develop and disseminate educational and awareness messages through official media channels in collaboration with relevant entities, as well as participating in local and global reports and research to apply best practices that serve persons with disabilities.

The General Authority of Media Regulation collaborates with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) to establish a general framework for regulating and executing cooperation activities in the field of intellectual property rights in the Kingdom. This framework aligns with the mandates and jurisdictions of each authority and includes monitoring and investigating violations of intellectual property rights by Authority. Any identified violations are referred to SAIP in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, the framework involves the exchange of data between the two parties.
Organizing the mechanism of linking the economic-related services provided by the Authority to the beneficiaries with the unified platform of the Saudi Business Center aims to facilitate the procedures for starting and practicing economic activities and to provide all related services according to the best international practices.
The authority has sought to achieve the goal of encouraging the establishment of peaceful communities where no one is marginalized in order to achieve sustainable development, facilitate access to justice for all, and build effective and accountable institutions that are inclusive at all levels. This is being pursued through continuous monitoring of hate speech (racial discrimination / sports bias / ...) in addition to raising awareness to enhance compliance with media content standards and thereby creating a peaceful society.
Ensuring Access to Justice for All Through Facilitated Electronic Services Provided by Quasi-Judicial Committees.
The laws issued by the authority promote the establishment of peaceful communities and facilitate access to justice for all, as well as the building of effective institutions. This is achieved through monitoring reports and violations related to electronic publishing infractions, incitement of sports fanaticism, conducting media work without obtaining a license, and failure to comply with regulations on importing and distributing media content and unauthorized receiving devices.
