Since its inception in 1433 AH, the General Commission for Audiovisual Media has issued a total of 3,138 permits and licenses. Abdullah Al-Shamlani, the spokesperson for the Commission, informed "Al-Watan" that the Commission is working diligently to streamline and accelerate the licensing processes for media activities through a comprehensive electronic system. This system is designed to ensure that media production aligns with national values and contributes positively to community development while protecting the public from harmful content and supporting innovative, positive creative works.
The Commission aims to foster a media industry that can compete globally by advancing the sector in Saudi Arabia towards high-quality standards. This is achieved by implementing regulatory policies, managing production licenses, and overseeing the import, broadcasting, and distribution of media content in all formats and related services.
