The General Commission for Audiovisual Media has adopted the National Classification for Economic Activities (ISIC4) for all the licenses it issues, in line with the Royal Decree that mandates this classification as the approved and unified standard for economic activities in the Kingdom.

Mr. Rida bin Mohammed Al-Haidar, the Acting President of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, explained that the adoption of this classification for broadcasting and audiovisual media content licenses aims to standardize economic activities according to international activity coding standards. This is intended to create a statistical database that ensures accurate and reliable reporting and statistics.

He noted that this classification helps in categorizing economic activities related to the Commission's work using a standardized method, allowing for the aggregation of units according to a sequential and specific order based on homogeneous groups. This creates a general framework for comparing statistical data both locally and internationally.

The National Classification is based on the international industrial classification guide with limited modifications to suit institutions operating in the Kingdom. Each institution's primary activity is assigned an economic classification code consisting of six digits.

The Saudi General Authority for Statistics uses this classification in all its economic and social products, monitors updates to the classification, and facilitates its application as an approved standard across all economic activities in the Kingdom.
